Everything you need to know

As a self-funding international student from South Korea, you are eligible for a scholarship of:

  • £1,500 per year for undergraduate students
  • £2,000 per year for postgraduate students 

This applies for courses starting in September 2024 and February 2025. You will be automatically considered for one of these awards when we receive your application.

Foundation Years are available to students who don't meet the academic requirements for entry directly onto year 1 of a Bachelor degree.

English Qualifications

Proficiency in English is essential for Undergraduate study. The University of South Wales recognises the following English Language qualifications:

  • GCSE/O Level English Language grade C or above
  • IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum of 5.5 in each band)

Don’t worry if you do not meet these requirements as we offer a range of English Language courses.

Academic Qualifications

  • Students who have successfully completed one year at a recognised university in South Korea with a GPA of 2.8 or above (depending on the subject area) will be considered for direct entry onto the first year of our undergraduate programmes.
  • Students who successfully completed a Junior College (Vocational) Diploma/Associate Degree will be considered for direct entry onto the first year of our undergraduate programmes.
  • Holders of the International Baccalaureate Diploma with higher grades of between 655-445 (this is equivalent to 112-80 UCAS tariff points) will be considered for direct admission to first year degree programmes. Please refer to our course pages for detailed entry requirements. Students who do not meet the entry requirement will be considered for a Foundation year.
  • Holders of the Cambridge GCE A Levels will be considered against the standard UCAS tariff for each individual course for direct admission to first year degree programmes.

  • Applicants with a Masters degree will be considered for entry to Ph.D. studies.
