"I’m living an experience that I thought would only be a dream to me.’’

Hi, I'm Tharusha Navoda, and I’m from Colombo, Sri Lanka. I’m studying BSc in Artificial Intelligence with Computer Science and I got to know about the University of South Wales through a friend. From my perspective, I became interested in the course more than I expected. I got to learn things that I’d never heard of or seen before through the lectures. It helped me to increase my knowledge and I think I’m going to really benefit from the course in the long run.

Living in the UK is a new experience to me, I’m living an experience that I thought would be only a dream to me. The University has a lot of facilities and has a good standard in everything as a Campus. It offers a lot of valuable things to the students. Studying here it’s like living in a movie.

My favourite facilities on campus

Two students picking out books from a bookshelf in the library.

The 24-hour library

Advanced computer labs where I can put theory from my lectures into practice

The gym and sports grounds

BSc Artificial Intelligence with Computer Science

From the few months that I have been here, I learned to socialise with new friends, learn about different cultures, and adapted myself to the environment that I’m in. The biggest difference between home and here is the weather!

If I had to give advice to anyone thinking about studying in the UK, I would definitely tell them to come and study here because the UK has a high standard in the education field and their education is highly recommended all around the world. I would advise them to establish a strong sense of personal discipline and patience. It takes both to adjust to new situations and much more to get the most out of your education. I would also urge them not to be hesitant while speaking or negotiating with the lecturers; the faculty of USW is eager to assist you in succeeding.

I have gained a lot of self-confidence, improved my skills and abilities to perform tasks in the field which I studied. They taught me a lot of things that will help me out during my life in the working environment.
