Everything you need to know

As a self-funding international student from Tanzania, you are eligible for a scholarship of:

  • £2,500 per year for undergraduate students
  • £2,500 per year for postgraduate students 

This applies for courses starting in September 2024 and February 2025. You will be automatically considered for one of these awards when we receive your application.

Foundation Years are available to students who don't meet the academic requirements for entry directly onto year 1 of a Bachelor degree.

English Qualifications

Proficiency in English is essential for undergraduate and postgraduate study. The University of South Wales recognises the following English Language qualifications:

  • CSE/EACE English grade C or above
  • GCSE/O Level English at grade C or above
  • IELTS with an overall score of 6.0 with at least a 5.5 in each component

Please note that some courses may require a higher level of English language proficiency than the University’s standard requirements. Please see the course page for further information.

Don’t worry if you do not meet these requirements as we offer a range of English Language courses.

Academic Qualifications

  • Applicants who have followed the A-Level curriculum can be considered for undergraduate entry – the normal UCAS tariff will be applied
  • Applicants who have followed the IB Diploma curriculum can be considered for undergraduate entry – the normal UCAS tariff will be applied
  • Applicants with East African Advanced Certificate of Education (EAACE)/Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education (ACSE) should be considered on the same basis as UK A-Level applicants and these grades will vary from subject to subject
  • Applicants who hold a 2/3 year Polytechnic Diploma/ Advanced Diploma, which is equivalent to either HNC/HND standard will be considered on case by case basis for 2nd or 3rd year entry

  • Applicants with a Masters degree will be considered for masters programme entry
