USW chiropractors win FICS student club of the year
13 May, 2021
USW’s Sport Chiropractic student club, at the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic (WIOC), has been recognised at the closing ceremony of the International Federation of Sports Chiropractic (FICS) Global Symposium.
Leaders in the chiropractic industry, and with global membership, FICS presents various awards upon those who have contributed to the professional specialty of sports chiropractic.
Louisa Conradi, second year Master of Chiropractic student and Club President, received the 2021 FICS Student Club award on behalf of the club.
Louisa said: “Since starting the club last Summer, we have grown to 40 members and in 2021 we have hosted monthly events with guest speakers. FICS said that they were impressed with how we have worked hard to establish a new club, during the pandemic, as well as our impressive social media presence.
“It’s a team effort though, and I’d like to extend thanks to my fellow students, Sam Tiley, Alison Lee, and Megan Brown.”
Members of the FICS student club can access benefits, such as discounts for FICS events and a mentoring scheme for final year students.
Professor David Byfield, WIOC Head of Clinical Services, said: “This is a very good example of student initiative to engage with external partners and developing global networks that will benefit our students after they graduate. At the same time, establishing USW as a progressive institution supporting student’s career aspirations."
