The University of South Wales was delighted to co-sponsor the fifth annual South Wales Argus Business Awards, held at USW’s Newport Campus last week.

Hosted by broadcaster and journalist Mai Davies, the awards honoured some of the best companies and businesspeople that Gwent has to offer, including Monmouthshire Building Society, Premier Forest Products and Newport Transport, among many others.

The ceremony, which was also sponsored by Newport City Council, featured 14 award categories, including Business of the Year and Lifetime Achievement Award.

For the full list of winners, see the South Wales Argus article.

Vice-Chancellor of USW, Dr Ben Calvert, said: “We are incredibly proud to have sponsored the South Wales Argus Business Awards, in partnership with Newport City Council. From our campus in the heart of Newport, we are training the next generation of cyber security experts, business professionals, teachers, healthcare professionals, social workers, police officers and many more.

“Industry partnerships are part of our institutional DNA, and we were delighted to have many of our local businesses and partners at the awards, spanning across industry, third sector and education.  Our USW Exchange acts as a front-door to the University for business where we can provide personalised analysis and support to access our expertise.

“Earlier this year, we also opened the Newport Start-up Stiwdio, our second business incubator to encourage and support entrepreneurship. I would like to say thank you and congratulate all the incredible businesses recognised at these awards.”
