UCAS chief to speak at USW conference
26 January, 2023
The chief operating officer of the universities and colleges admission service (UCAS) is giving a speech at a major event in Newport next month.
Sander Kristel will deliver a keynote address at the Annual Teachers’ and Advisers’ Conference, which is organised by the University of South Wales (USW) and will be held at its Newport campus on 9 February.
Also speaking at the event will be Nick Elston, a leading inspirational speaker on the lived experience of mental health.
The conference will also feature workshops on a wide range of subjects which will interest teachers and advisers who are supporting those planning to study at university.
These include student finance, USW student support, career provision, writing personal statements, creative industries, apprenticeships, work placements, performance sport, and accelerated degrees.
“We’re delighted to be able to host teachers and advisers at our Newport campus next month, for our first in-person Teachers’ and Advisers’ Conference since before the pandemic.
“The conference programme is jam-packed with essential information, advice, and guidance for teachers and advisers involved in supporting students on their higher education journeys, and it will provide valuable networking opportunities with colleagues from across the sector.
“It promises to be an exciting, informative event - we’re really looking forward to welcoming some of our most valued stakeholders to USW” said Sera Evans, USW's Associate Director of UK Student Recruitment.
