Vice-Chancellor hosts Malaysian delegation at Cardiff campus

On 5 October 2023, a delegation representing Malaysian universities visited Cardiff campus and met with colleagues from USW Executive and the International Office.
Organised by the Malaysia-United Kingdom Higher Education Collaboration Enrichment Programme (MY-UK HECEP), their focus is bringing institutions from Malaysia and Wales together to exchange best practice in the field of internationalisation of higher education and facilitating opportunities for collaboration.
During their visit, USW colleagues presented on ‘internationalisation 2030’, enterprise and engagement, and research at USW. They then broke into roundtable discussions to consider partnership and collaboration opportunities.
Over their four-day visit to Wales, the Malaysian representatives also met with Universities Wales International, Taith, British Council Wales, Aberystwyth University, Bangor University and Wrexham University and visited Cardiff University, Cardiff Metropolitan University, Swansea University, and University of Wales Trinity St David.
Dr Ben Calvert, Vice-Chancellor, said: “We were delighted to host the group and showcase our facilities in Cardiff. We had some productive discussions, sharing collective knowledge and experience, and identifying opportunities for working together, especially in research and collaborative programmes.
“Partnerships and collaboration are the lifeblood of USW. Thank you to the international team for pulling this important event together. Through us all working together we can take great strides in deepening international relationships and delivering our 2030 strategy.”
