Loan gives pupils a chance to learn computer knowledge

School pupils are being given the chance to learn more about computing thanks to help from a University of South Wales (USW) lecturer.
Informatics and Electronics lecturer Joseph Griffiths recently returned to Afon Tâf High School in Troedyrhiw, Merthyr Tydfil – where he previously worked in learning support - to loan the pupils a set of Raspberry Pi computer kits, which can be used to promote computing to the teenagers and introduce them to themes which are central to the computing degree run by USW.
"It was great to see my old work colleagues yesterday while loaning some USW equipment to Afon Tâf High School,” Joseph said.
“Those of us in the Informatics and Electronics Department at USW believe it's important for students to learn about a variety of topics, including the Internet of Things (IoT), Python Programming, and Game Development. Our BSc Computing course is designed to provide hands-on experience and practical knowledge in these areas.
“It's good to know that the equipment will be put to good use by the students."
