BoB: TV and radio online
Students and staff on campus or at home (UK only) can watch or record television and radio programmes using BoB. You will need the latest web browser to access the service. Use our About BoB guide (external link) for help on all aspects of this service.
Programmes in BoB are made available to members of the University under the ERA licence and are for educational and non-commercial purposes only. Breaches of the terms and conditions may result in permanent suspension, reporting the misuse to the institution, the copyright owners and other relevant agencies, who may decide to take legal action against the infringer.
What is BoB?
BoB is a service from Learning on Screen that enables you to record and view TV and radio online, from over 65 free-to-air channels including 13 foreign language channels.
What do I need to use it?
A PC, Mac, Tablet or any mobile device that has an internet connection. Please note that only programmes that have been added since January 2014 will be viewable on Apple iOS handheld devices.
What does it do?
- Record - you can schedule up to 5 programmes per day; you can record programmes from the last thirty days.
- Playback - you can playback recordings over the internet.
- Access the national BoB online archive - as well as the material you have recorded, you can playback and make clips from all the material recorded by university staff and students around the UK. You can also access more than 800,000 archived BBC TV and radio programmes, dating from 2007.
- Make clips and create your own play list - you can have your own profile called MyBoB, so you can make your own clips and store play lists of your favourite broadcasts.
