USW Content Creators Student Life
Hi, I’m Ashleigh, A first year advertising student at USW!
My typical day at university consists of getting up and ready for the day followed by having a quick bite to eat and making sure I have everything ready in my bag for the lecture. I then walk to campus, which is about a 5-minute walk from my accommodation.
I really love learning new aspects of advertising every day but particularly enjoy the modules that have social media content creation involved as I find it really enjoyable, especially looking more into the analytical side of things. On my course we don’t do practical work perse, but we do a few live briefs and visit advertising agencies to get a feel for what working in the industry is like.
As a course, along with other similar courses, we are going on a trip to Budapest in January to further enrich our learning but also explore Budapest and other cultures which will be so interesting and fun!
I’m fortunate to live in halls with some of my best friends that I have met at university and they are now friends for life. We always do things together like go for walks, shopping around St. Davids or watching a film in the cinema.
I also work part-time at Hollywood Bowl on the weekends which is fun and I also get to bowl for free which is a good bonus!
I would say the best way to manage your time between University, your social life and work is to plan your time wisely. Make sure you leave days for looking after your self and have a self care day.
Plan outings with friends at least a week in advance, sometimes me and my friends do a monthly curry night at Wetherspoons which is something I always look forward to.
Make sure you are transparent with your place of work, tell them the hours you can’t do so you can work it around uni and your social life.
And my final tip is to just enjoy yourself! These three years will go by really fast so take time to enjoy it and try new things and meet new people, you never know, they could be friends for life.
