USW helped to spark a new passion
Hassan, an international student, chose USW after carefully considering numerous options. "USW stood out with its fantastic facilities, like the library, study resources, and course teaching methods.” Originally studying engineering, Hassan's interests shifted to HR. He credits USW for sparking this newfound passion.
As part of the HRM course, Hassan was introduced to crucial industry interactions through guest lectures and placements. "Engagement with professional bodies like the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), via guest lectures and live seminars made a significant impact," he said. These experiences offered practical insights, thereby complementing his theoretical knowledge, and making him an all-rounded candidate for future employment.
He acknowledges the importance of mastering certain software like Canva, Microsoft Word, and Excel in this digital age, which he learned through his course. His goal is to become an HR manager, and he believes this course has prepared him by enhancing his people management and problem-solving skills, but also these key software skills.

Hassan loves his study location at USW Treforest. "The buildings are surrounded by plants and mountains, and it's near to the train station, so we don’t have to walk a lot." Despite not being able to visit the campus in person before enrolling due to his international status, he attended a helpful online event where a USW representative answered all his queries about studying at USW.
Hassan has some advice for future students: "Be a part of USW & enjoy the learning experience. The HRM course gives all the skills & habits you require to be a successful professional in the field. So, go for it."
