The course has helped me build confidence in my abilities.

Why I chose to study Interior Design

My love for interior design started young. As a kid, I was constantly rearranging my room, inspired by shows where homes were transformed for people who couldn’t afford renovations. That passion for creating meaningful spaces stuck with me, so pursuing interior design felt natural.

I chose USW because it’s close to home, which allows me to stay connected with my family—a comforting part of my journey. I attended an Open Day, and the atmosphere was warm and supportive, which made the decision easy. The staff and students were friendly and welcoming, creating a cosy environment to grow and learn.

Throughout the course, my favourite experiences have been visiting sites and analysing spaces, which has given me valuable insights into identifying design challenges. We’ve worked on projects like an exhibition for a charity and an IKEA project, where we created designs sbased on briefs, making the learning process practical and engaging.

Building confidence during my studies

The course has helped me build confidence in my abilities, even though I’ve sometimes struggled with self-doubt. It’s equipped me with the skills and resilience to step into the design world, and I’m excited to see where this path will take me.

My advice for future interior design students? Don’t stress about knowing everything right away. Take your time, practice, and trust that you’ll grow.
