The Need
FinTech Wales sought to engage with educational institutions to facilitate meaningful connections between students and employers with the end goal of further innovation in the finance and tech industries .
FinTech Wales also focuses on promoting diversity and inclusion in these sectors. As a result, FinTech Wales required a partner that could provide suitable venues and additional support for various events. The relationship with USW emerged as particularly beneficial, offering both a strategic location, significant willingness to offer support and an active approach to community engagement.
The solution
USW and FinTech Wales initially collaborated on a recruitment event aimed at connecting employers with students in order for employers to meet high quality talent, and for students to get a better understanding of the roles available in the tech and finance industries. The success of this event led to further collaboration, including a networking breakfast, which provided a platform to facilitate conversations between Welsh fintech businesses and USW Exchange, introducing numerous ways a business can benefit from USW's business services. Both events delivered huge turnout from enterprise and education, creating a unique platform for employers to proactively meet and tap into local upcoming talent.
