Our talented students and graduates have won Oscars and designed sets for BAFTA and won awards such as the Welsh Music Prize, the Pencil Award at the D&AD New Blood Awards, and even made the coveted Breakthrough Brits list.

More than 40 students and graduates from the University's Film and TV School worked on the BBC production of the epic and hit TV drama, His Dark Materials.

Fashion Studios

Our studios are split into fashion and production, just how they would be in the real world. We have professional equipment that you would expect to find within the fashion production industry globally.

TV Studio

The studio is equipped with a 360-degree green screen and 20 lights which are all moveable, the cameras used are the same as the ones used at BBC Wales.

Interior Design Studio

Interior Design students work in a professional studio environment experimenting with varying medium on paper, digitally and in 3D, either through their own construction or with our 3D printers and laser cutters in the workshop.

Photography Studio

We have two large photography studios and specialist technical support on-site with expertise in lighting and setup, so you'll have all you need for a professional photography shoot. We also have two digital labs - one to scan and process images and the other for printing.

Radio Studio

Our radio studio is named the Gus Dungeon Suite, after Elton John’s producer. It contains analogue mixing and editing desks and all the equipment you can find there was used to produce many of Elton’s records.

Rehearsal Studios

We have impressive facilities including a 160-seat auditorium theatre with a sprung stage floor, full lighting rig, two dance studios and drama spaces. There are also four black box studio theatres and professional film studios with green screen and motion capture facilities on campus.

Library and Advice Zone

At our library, you’ll find a variety of study and social spaces in a modern, open plan facility, as well as the advice zone, which provides a one-stop shop for enquiries and appointments with our support services.

Students’ Union

The Students’ Union supports over 100 clubs, teams, and societies and holds over 150 events for our students annually.

Equipment

At our Cardiff Campus we have a vast range of equipment that you will be trained to use as part of your course. To help support your studies we have a Media Loans facility that allows you to hire the equipment, at no cost, for you to then use for your assignments and practical work.  We have both basic and high-end film and photography cameras, portable lighting and sound equipment as well as a range of professional studio recording microphones, instruments and associated equipment to use in our music studios or on location. The team of technical officers and instructors are also available to help you with any queries and technical issues.
