USW Students September 2026 Prize Draw Terms and Conditions
The promoter is: the University of South Wales, Llantwit Road, Treforest, Pontypridd CF37 1DL, Communications and Public Affairs team, herein known as (“the University”).
The title of the prize draw is USW STUDENTS SEPTEMBER 2026 PRIZE DRAW.
Terms and Conditions
The University of South Wales (USW) invites all current enrolled students at USW to take part in our USW Students September 2026 Prize Draw via the USW Students Instagram accounts (@usw_students and @pdc_myfyriwr). Students must be enrolled at USW by the closing date (Friday 2 October 2026) to be eligible to take part. There will be one prize draw with six prizes – six students will be randomly selected to win one prize each. The prizes include a refurbished laptop, two sets of £100 vouchers for use at USW catering outlets, one membership to USW’s FitZone for one academic year (nine months), and two USW hoodies.
The Rules
1 HOW TO ENTER
1.1 We are running a prize draw that will run from Monday 14 September 2026 ("Opening Date") to Friday 2 October 2026 (the "Closing Date") inclusive. The details of the prizes are listed in condition 3.
1.2 You must be following either the @usw_students Instagram account or the @pdc_myfyriwr Instagram account, as well as either the @unisouthwales Instagram account or the @de_cymru Instagram account.
1.3 You must like the prize draw post on either the @usw_students Instagram account or the @pdc_myfyriwr Instagram account, and tag at least one person on either post.
1.4 Multiple entries are allowed. One tag per comment will count as one entry– just remember to post each tag in a separate comment. If you post multiple tags all in one comment, this will still count as one entry. Entries on behalf of another person will not be accepted.
1.5 All prize draw entries received after the Closing Date will not be accepted.
1.6 The USW Students September 2026 Prize Draw is free to enter and no purchase is necessary.
1.7 By submitting a prize draw entry to the USW Students September 2026 Prize Draw you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.
1.8 The winning entrants will be drawn at random from all entries within the prize draw dates.
2 ELIGBILITY
2.1 The competition is only open to current enrolled students at the University of South Wales. Students must be enrolled by the closing date (Friday 2 October 2026) to be eligible to take part.
2.2 Your eligibility will be verified against data held by the University.
2.3 We will not accept entries from employees of the University or any affiliated companies.
2.4 In entering the competition, you confirm that you are eligible to do so and eligible to claim any prize you may win.
2.5 The University reserves all rights to disqualify you if your conduct is contrary to the spirit or intention of the prize competition.
3 THE PRIZE
3.1 The prize is supplied by the University. The University reserves the right to replace the prize with an alternative prize of equal or higher value if circumstances beyond the University's control makes it necessary to do so.
3.2 There is no alternative prize available and the prizes are non-negotiable, non-exchangeable, non-transferable and no cash alternatives will be offered.
3.3 The University’s use of particular brands as prizes does not imply any affiliation with or endorsement of such brands.
3.4 The University does not provide any form of practical support for the prize, the prize is provided “as is”. Prizes may be subject to their own terms and conditions issued by the relevant provider. To accept the prize, the winner must also accept any applicable prize terms and conditions.
3.5 The prize draw is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by or associated with Instagram. Instagram will not assist in the administration of the promotion and cannot advise on whether consent is required for use of user content or on how to obtain any necessary consent. Using Instagram is at your own risk and subject to any applicable terms and conditions and privacy statement for use of that site.
PRIZE DETAILS
3.6 There will be one prize draw with six prizes in total – six students will be randomly selected to receive one prize. The prizes include:
- Prize 1 – Refurbished Dell Laptop
One winner will receive a refurbished Dell laptop (Dell Latitude 5400 - i5-8th Gen, 16GB RAM and 256GB SSD).
Ownership of the laptop transfers to the winner upon collection.
- Prize 2 and 3 – USW Catering Vouchers
Two winners will receive £100 of USW catering vouchers containing 10 vouchers worth £3 each, 5 vouchers worth £6 each, and 5 vouchers worth £8 each. The vouchers may only be used at participating University-operated catering outlets, including participating campus catering outlets. They cannot be used at venues operated by USW Students’ Union.
Vouchers expire on 31 July 2027.
Vouchers cannot be exchanged for cash, transferred, refunded or replaced if lost, stolen or damaged.
If the value of a purchase is less than the face value of a voucher, no change or credit will be given.
- Prize 4 – USW FitZone membership
One winner will receive one year’s membership (academic year – nine months) to the University’s FitZone at the Treforest Campus in Pontypridd. The membership covers gym attendance until the end of May 2027. This includes access to the gym and fitness rooms, as well as some sports in the main hall, which need to be booked in advance. These include badminton, basketball, table tennis and pickleball. For full-court sports, such as five-a-side football, there would be an additional charge.
The membership will be assigned to the individual that is drawn in the competition and cannot be transferred to another person.
- Prize 5 and 6 – USW Branded Hoodie
Two winners will receive a University of South Wales arched printed hoodies. Arched Print Hoodie – University of South Wales Students' Union. These will be provided in the colour and size requested by the winning students, subject to stock availability.
3.7 Each of the above prizes will need to be collected in-person from the campus that they are studying at, at a time / date agreed with each student.
WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT
3.8 The decision of the University is final and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into.
3.9 The winners of the prize draw (six students in total) will be contacted via direct message on Instagram during the week of 5 October 2026 and will be subject to a verification process to ensure the eligibility criteria has been met. The University will not amend this contact information once the prize entry has been submitted.
3.10 The winners will be selected by the following means:
- A list of all the individuals that have commented on the competition post and tagged another user will be created (either on @usw_students Instagram account or the @pdc_myfyriwr Instagram account).
- This list of users will be put into an online randomiser and six individuals will be selected at random. When the six names are drawn, we will check that all of these six individuals:
- Have liked the competition post either on the @usw_students Instagram account or the @pdc_myfyriwr Instagram account
- Are following either @usw_students Instagram account or the @pdc_myfyriwr Instagram account and the
- Are following either the @unisouthwales Instagram account or the @de_cymru Instagram account.
- If they have then the individuals will be contacted so that we can verify that they are current students (enrolled by the close of the competition on 2 October). If they have not, then another user(s) will be selected at random, and the above process will be repeated.
3.11 The winners must provide, via their University of South Wales student email address, their student ID number, name and the course that they are studying. These details will be checked against the University’s student records. When their eligibility is confirmed, they will be contacted again to arrange collection of their prize. Further communication will be done using their student email address and not via Instagram.
3.12 The surname and county of residence of winners may be made available on request within 30 days of the Closing Date by contacting USW Communications at [email protected]. A winner may object to disclosure or request that the amount of information disclosed is reduced, where legally permitted.
4 CLAIMING THE PRIZE
4.1 If you are a winner of a prize, you will have one week (seven days) from the direct message being sent to you via Instagram to claim the prize, by responding via your University of South Wales email address and providing the details set out in 3.10. If you do not claim your prize in this time, your claim will become invalid.
4.2 The prize cannot be claimed by a third party on your behalf.
4.3 The University will make all reasonable efforts to contact the winner. If the winner cannot be contacted or is not available, or has not claimed their prize within the time specified, the University reserves the right to offer the prize to the next eligible entrant selected from the runner up entries that were received before the Closing Date of the prize draw.
4.4 If the student fails to email in the required details within one week (seven days) from the point of initial contact, then they will lose their right to the prize they have been selected to win. The University of South Wales reserves the right to then select another winner from the eligible entries using a randomiser tool and notify a new winner.
4.5 The University will make collection arrangements through mutual agreement, within 14 days of the Announcement Date at the campus at which you are studying.
5 LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
5.1 Insofar as is permitted by law, the University, its agents or distributors will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate any entrant, winner or third party except in the event of personal injury or death resulting directly from the University’s negligence. Your statutory rights are not affected.
6 DATA PROTECTION
6.1 Personal information will be held by the University for the purposes of this prize draw and will be stored and used in accordance with the USW Privacy Notice or General Privacy Notice. See also condition 4 with regard to the verification and announcement of prize winners.
7 GENERAL TERMS
7.1 If there is any reason to believe that there has been a breach of these terms and conditions, the University may, at its sole discretion, reserve the right to exclude you from participating in the prize draw.
7.2 The University reserves the right to hold void, suspend, cancel, or amend the prize draw where it becomes necessary to do so.
7.3 The University’s decisions on eligibility and prize claims will be made in accordance with these Terms. This does not affect any statutory rights or any right to raise a complaint under applicable University procedures.
7.4 These terms and conditions shall be governed by English law, and the University and you agree to use only the courts of England and Wales.
7.5 In the event of any dispute, the decision of the University is final.
