Meet Barida

Hi, I'm Barida Biranen, I come from Nigeria in West Africa. I studied MSc Safety, Health & Environmental Management. I got to find out about USW through a School Agency (Preparation for LIfe) which I used for the admission.  

I had the opportunity to interact and collaborate with Colleagues and professionals in aspects of Health, Safety and Environment which lead to a broader understanding of the course. My dissertation, was my biggest work yet, and is my proudest achievement - I am glad all the efforts I put in were rewarded. I have surprised myself by adequate planning. I was not the best at this, but coming to USW I learnt to schedule all my activities and it has helped me till this moment in life.

Life in the UK is excellent, even the air is so clean, I really enjoyed the sporting activities, you can literally feel the buzz. I even met my partner at USW; on a faithful Sunday morning, I was going to church and she sat next to me, the conversation started and that was it. We were both studying masters degrees at USW at the time, and are about to get married after being together for 5 years.

I would one day love to do a PhD and make a contribution in my field.
