The University of South Wales is a popular choice amongst Vietnamese students and has been welcoming students from Vietnam to its three campuses for many years.

Popular courses amongst Vietnamese students are Master of Chiropractic, BSc (Hons) Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, BA (Hons) Logistics and Supply Chain Management, and MSc Safety, Health and Environmental Management.

Students from Vietnam have appreciated the scholarships offered by the University and have enjoyed the high standard of living but relatively low cost of living that South Wales offers. The University offers the following scholarships for self-funding international students. You will be automatically considered for one of these awards when we receive your application. For more information visit the international scholarships page.

  • Chancellor’s International Development Scholarship of £2,500 for undergraduate students
  • International Academic Scholarships of £2,000 for postgraduate students
  • International Academic Scholarships of £1,500 for MBA students

Foundation Entry Requirements

Students who have passed passed year 12 (Tto nghiep pho thong trung hoc – upper secondary graduation certificate) with a score of 5 or above and have and a UKVI IELTS score of 5.0 will be considered for entry onto the International Foundation Programme.


Students who have passed passed year 12 (Tto nghiep pho thong trung hoc – upper secondary graduation certificate) with a score of 5 or above and have an IELTS score of 6.0 (and have 5.5 in each band) or equivalent will be considered for entry onto an integrated foundation year.


Undergraduate Entry Requirements


English Qualifications

Proficiency in English is essential for Undergraduate study. The University of South Wales recognises the following English language qualifications: 

  • GCSE English at grade C
  • IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum 5.5 in each band)


Academic Qualifications

  • Students who have passed year 12 (Tot Nghiep Pho Thong Trung Hoc – Upper Secondary Graduation Certificate) and have an IELTS score of 5.0 or equivalent will need to take the International Foundation Programme (IFP). Students who have an IELTS 6.0 or equivalent will take the Foundation Year Programme (FYP)
  • Holders of a College Diploma/Associate Degree (Tot Nghiep Dai Hoc) and have IELTS 6.0 or equivalent will be considered for advanced entry to year 2 of a relevant degree programme on a case by case basis.


Postgraduate Entry Requirements


English Qualifications

Proficiency in English is essential for Postgraduate study. The University of South Wales recognises the following English language qualifications: 

  • GCSE/O Level English Language grade C or above
  • Postgraduate Study: IELTS with an overall score of 6.0 with at least a 5.5 in each component. Please note that some courses may require a higher level of English language proficiency than the University’s standard requirements. Please see the course page for further information.
  • Don't worry if you do not meet these requirements as we offer a range of English Language Courses to prepare you for academic studies.


Academic Qualifications

  • A Bachelors degree (Bang Tot Nghiep Dai Hoc) with an average score of 7 or higher
  • A masters degree (Thac Si)
  • MBA applicants should have one of the above qualifications
