‘’I love Wales and it is just like my second home.’’

Hi, I'm Nguyet Thanh, known as Amy, from Vietnam, and I’m studying MSc Project Management. During my working time as a lecturer in Vietnam, I have undertaken not just academic related projects but also business researches from which I realised the need of improving project management skills and knowledge. I am actually a returning student. I did my 1st Master’s degree back in 2018 at USW from which I strongly believe in the high teaching quality and reliable studying environment offered by the university. As a result, when thinking to choose a place to take my 2nd Master’s degree in Project Management, I did not feel hesitant to go for USW again.

I am fortunately a Global Wales Scholar and the adventure to get to this scholarship is unforgettable. This is a great experience to me and I have enjoyed all the events organized by Global Wales organization with their huge support.

MY CLASS CONSISTS OF STUDENTS FROM MANY COUNTRIES INCLUDING WALES, ENGLAND, MALAYSIA, CHINA, INDIA, SOUTH AFRICA ETC.

Why I love living in the UK

The accommodation blocks in Treforest

The weather is just right here

A waterfall surrounded by moss, trees, and stones in Ystradfellte, Neath

Wales is a beautiful place, I like to collect souvenir magnets from everywhere I visit

There are so many cute coffee shops to explore here

A train travelling along train tracks with the sun setting in the background.

It’s so easy to travel the UK – I’ve been to London, Bournemouth, Bath and more

Students sat on beanbags and laughing in the accommodation hub.

There are so many different accents here!

The best thing about the USW campus is the library. I have spent most of my time there and have utilized fully the services USW library offers. It is not easy for me to concentrate when I am at home to work on my assessments or else. Therefore, the 24/7 services offer by USW library would be the best option for me. The library provides a huge source of books and journals that you can access easily. Besides, different studying spaces are available for your preference including computer zone, quite zone, group work zone, etc. In addition, you also can receive the overall support you need from the Advice Zone locating inside the library which is the first point of contact for all student enquiries.

‘Be prepared with an open-minded and positive mind set’, is my advice to students who want to study in the UK to experience the fullest. When you have an open-minded mind set, the diversity offered by Universities in the UK will be the chance for you to widen your knowledge. In addition, having a positive mind set, you will not find the weather, food in the UK can bother you or difference in cultures can cause shocks on you.
