Self-financing students from Zimbabwe studying at undergraduate level are able to take advantage of our guaranteed Chancellor’s International Development Scholarships of £2,500 per year!

Students from Zimbabwe appreciate the scholarships offered by the University and have enjoyed the high standard of living but relatively low cost of living that South Wales offers. Students enjoy the friendly, safe and welcoming environment of the University and benefit hugely from the location – surrounded by breathtaking scenery and impressive historical landscapes, boasting excellent transport links and the buzz of two dynamic Welsh cities.

The University offers the following scholarships for self-funding international students. You will be automatically considered for one of these awards when we receive your application. For more information visit the international scholarships page.

  • Chancellor’s International Development Scholarship of £2,500 for undergraduate students
  • International Academic Scholarships of £2,000 for postgraduate students
  • International Academic Scholarships of £1,500 for MBA students

Foundation Entry Requirements

  • International Foundation Year (Intensive English) is available for those who have an average grade 5 or above in the Zambia School Certificate and have an IELTS score of 5.0 progressing to their Bachelor degree.
  • Students who have a good level of English (IELTS 6.0 or equivalent) will be considered for our Faculty Foundation Years.

Undergraduate Entry Requirements

English Qualifications

Proficiency in English is essential for Undergraduate study. The University of South Wales recognises the following English Language qualifications:

  • Zambia School Certificate grade 5
  • GCSE/O-Level English Language grade C or above
  • IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum of 5.5 in each band)

Don’t worry if you do not meet these requirements as we offer a range of English Language courses.


Academic Qualifications

  • Applicants who have followed the A-Level curriculum can be considered for undergraduate entry – the normal UCAS tariff will be applied
  • Applicants who have followed the IB Diploma curriculum can be considered for undergraduate entry – the normal UCAS tariff will be applied
  • Applicants who have a post secondary diploma will be considered for advance entry to year 2/3 of a relevant degree programme on a case by case basis

Postgraduate Entry Requirements

English Qualifications

Proficiency in English is essential for Postgraduate study. The University of South Wales recognises the following English Language qualifications:

  • Zambia School Certificate grade 5
  • GCSE/O-Level English at grade C or above
  • Postgraduate Study: IELTS with an overall score of 6.0 with at least a 5.5 in each component. Please note that some courses may require a higher level of English language proficiency than the University’s standard requirements. Please see the course page for further information.

Academic Qualifications

  • Applicants with the equivalent to a Second Class Lower degree will be considered for masters programme entry.
  • Applicants with a masters degree will be considered for masters programme entry
  • MBA – For entry to MBA applicants should have one of the above and at least 2 years relevant work experience, preferably after graduation and student should be aged at least 23
