The University is very diverse, lively and welcoming. Most significantly, it is concerned with its students’ well-being and recognises their need of balancing work, family, and personal commitments.
USW Experience
I have been a part of USW for the past 17 years. I came to the UK to do my Masters in Mobile and Satellite Communications at USW. After a period in industry, I returned to do my PhD.
The University is very diverse, lively and welcoming. Most significantly, it is concerned with its students’ well-being and recognises their need of balancing work, family, and personal commitments. There is a wide variety of support available for students to make their time at university enjoyable and fruitful. I became a research student rep to provide help and support other PhD students, especially those who may be studying far from home. I enjoy meeting students from within my Faculty but also people from across the University, such as the Research Team and Graduate School staff.
Stilts Cafeteria is my favourite place on campus. I am a real foodie and enjoy the variety of foods available here. The Chaplaincy is another important location. On the days where you need some perspective, you can find a quiet spot and relax with a hot drink. There is always someone to listen if you want to talk about what’s bothering you.
Postgraduate ResearchResearch focus
My PhD involves characterisation and optimisation of mm-wave propagation for next generation communication systems. Millimetre wave technology is one of the fastest growing technologies of this decade. The outcomes of my work will place the UK and USW at the centre of developments in this transformative area.
