1. Promotion overview

The USW Offer Holder 2026 Instant Win Promotion ("Promotion") is an instant win promotion operated by the University.

Eligible participants will receive one scratch card as part of a Welcome Pack. A participant may immediately reveal whether they have won a prize by scratching the card and will include or direct the participant to claim instructions.

3. Definitions

“Offer Holder” means a UK domiciled student who holds a firm offer from the University as at 8 August 2026, intends to commence a full-time undergraduate course taught on campus in September 2026, and did not apply through Clearing.

“Welcome Pack” means the package distributed by the University containing promotional items and one scratch card.

The University may require reasonable evidence of eligibility and identity.

Except where specifically stated within the accommodation prize conditions, winning a prize is not conditional upon subsequent enrolment at the University.

Scratch cards are randomly pre-allocated with winning and non-winning outcomes. The timing of delivery does not affect the allocation of prizes.

A valid winning scratch card entitles the holder to claim the relevant prize, subject to compliance with these Terms, verification of eligibility and verification of the winning card and claim details.

7. Prize conditions

7.1. General prize conditions

Prizes are non-transferable, non-exchangeable and have no cash alternative unless expressly stated otherwise in these Terms.

The University reserves the right to substitute a prize with an alternative of equal or greater value where circumstances outside the University’s reasonable control, supply issues or product discontinuation make this necessary.

The University’s use of third-party brands as prizes does not imply endorsement by or affiliation with those brands.

Prizes may be subject to separate manufacturer, supplier or accommodation terms and conditions. Winners must comply with any applicable terms in order to use or benefit from a prize.

7.2 Prize 1 – Accommodation

One winner will receive accommodation support in the designated University accommodation building, with a maximum value of £4,680 connected to accommodation arrangements for the 2026/27 academic year.

The prize normally consists of one academic year’s accommodation in a standard single room at Glamorgan Court, Treforest campus. The room type is a standard room with en-suite wet room, approximately 11.5m2, based on a 40 week contract.

The prize may only be used in connection with eligible accommodation arrangements associated with the winner’s attendance at the University during the 2026/27 academic year. To benefit from the accommodation prize, the winner must be eligible to occupy the relevant accommodation and must enter into, or already have entered into, a valid accommodation contract as described below.

If Glamorgan Court is unavailable, the University may provide equivalent University-managed accommodation of equal or higher value.

If the winner chooses not to take up residence in eligible accommodation and no permitted alternative applies, the accommodation prize will be forfeited and no cash alternative will be provided.

Where a winner is studying at the Cardiff or Newport campuses and chooses to live in Glamorgan Court, they may also be eligible for the University’s Travel Cost Student Bursary, subject to the separate published terms of that scheme. The Travel Cost Student Bursary is not part of this prize.

Existing accommodation contract exception

If, by 8 August 2026, the winner has already entered into a written accommodation contract enforceable in England and Wales, the University may apply the following arrangements instead of providing a standard room at Glamorgan Court.

University-managed accommodation at Treforest: where the existing contract is for University-managed accommodation at Treforest, including a higher value or enhanced room type, the University may at its discretion apply a credit of up to £4,680 towards the cost of that accommodation. Any remaining balance will be payable by the winner.

Third-party accommodation: where the existing contract is with a third-party accommodation provider, the University may make a one-off payment of up to £4,680 directly to that accommodation provider. No payment will be made directly to the winner.

The winner must provide satisfactory evidence of the accommodation contract and any payment details reasonably required by the University. The University’s contribution will not exceed £4,680 and cannot be transferred, exchanged or taken as cash.

7.3 Prize 2 – Apple MacBook Neo laptop

Fifty winners will each receive one Apple MacBook Neo 13 A18PRO Silver 8GB/256GB laptop or an equivalent replacement model if substitution is necessary.

The University will provide warranty information at collection. The warranty is provided subject to the relevant manufacturer’s or supplier’s warranty terms and exclusions.

Ownership of the laptop transfers to the winner upon collection.

7.4 Prize 3 – One4All Gift Voucher

Twenty winners will each receive one £200 One4All Gift Voucher.

The voucher is subject to the terms and conditions of the voucher issuer.

7.5 Prize 4 – USW Catering Vouchers

Five winners will each receive £200 of USW catering vouchers containing 40 vouchers worth £2 each and 24 vouchers worth £5 each.

The vouchers may only be used at participating University-operated catering outlets, including participating campus catering outlets. They cannot be used at venues operated by USW Students’ Union.

Vouchers expire on 31 July 2027.

Vouchers cannot be exchanged for cash, transferred, refunded or replaced if lost, stolen or damaged.

If the value of a purchase is less than the face value of a voucher, no change or credit will be given.

7.6 Prize 5 – USW branded hoodie

Fifty winners will each receive one USW branded hoodie.

7.7 Prize 6 – USW branded notebook

One hundred and ninety winners will each receive one USW branded notebook.

8. Winner information

A valid winning scratch card immediately identifies a winning participant.

Winners must retain their original scratch card that includes a unique code.

The surname and county of residence of winners may be made available on request within 30 days of the Closing Date by contacting Future Students at [email protected]. A winner may object to disclosure or request that the amount of information disclosed is reduced, where legally permitted.

9. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

Subject to the above, the University’s liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law. The winner’s statutory rights are not affected.
