iOS Instructions and Installation
Setting up your iOS Device
Please note - Company Portal is only available for staff and not currently available for students. Furthermore, only one Company Portal profile can exist per device. This means that, for example, if you already have a profile for the Open University or a different institution on your device, that profile will need to be removed before setting up your USW profile.
For a full video on how to set up your iOS device, please see below. Or alternatively, there are written instructions and images further down this page.
When Intune is enabled you will first see a screen requesting that you secure the device.
Click continue and follow the onscreen instructions, you will be guided to install the Company Portal and install a profile within the settings menu.
All instructions will be present on screen, we recommend you follow them as written. You will also be presented with a screen informing you of what IT can and can't see. We recommend you pay close attention to this page before completing setup.
Once setup the rest can be left to us, while still remaining vigilant to potential attack you can rest easy knowing that IT are now assisting in securing corporate data on your device.

Most BYOD will automatically receive software updates as and when the vendor releases them. However, if your mobile device is no longer supported by the vendor to receive these latest software releases then Cyber Essentials deems this device ‘non-compliant’ and unfortunately you WILL NOT be able to use that device to access work-related information. This means you will no longer be able to access Outlook for emails, Microsoft Teams, HR ESS or any work-related information from your mobile device.

For most staff personal devices are a convenience item. If you are provided with a work device then you can continue to use this as normal. If you are not, then you can use shared devices on any of our campuses. These are located within public areas such as libraries or can be available within your department.
Access to USW online systems and resources will now be restricted to a managed and supported internet browser. To assist with this we will deploy Edge to each enrolled personal device. All USW online systems should be accessed from this browser. Personal browsing should be done from your standard browser.
