How to Create a Strong Portfolio for Creative and Therapeutic Arts

Once your application has been submitted you will be invited to submit a digital portfolio. This will be up to 20 images showcasing your artistic skills and interests. Portfolios can be submitted as a website, a digital presentation or a document with your images on.

Your portfolio is an opportunity to showcase your creativity, artistic interests and potential, so it's important to choose work that reflects who you are as an artist.

Building your portfolio

We're interested in getting to know your artistic identity and what inspires you creatively. Your portfolio doesn't need to focus solely on work produced for qualifications. You can include personal projects, exhibition pieces, experimental work, or artwork created simply because you enjoy making it.

Don't feel limited to one medium. We welcome a wide range of creative work, including:

  • Drawing and painting
  • Printmaking
  • Photography
  • Sculpture and other 3D work
  • Textiles
  • Installation pieces
  • Film and moving image
  • Mixed media
  • Participatory art practice
  • Crafts

Think about how your portfolio tells your story. Arrange your work in a logical order that takes the viewer on a creative journey and consider how each piece relates to the next. You may annotate the portfolio to help tell your story.

We're interested in your creative process as much as the finished outcome. Including sketches, experiments, drafts and developmental work helps us understand how your ideas evolve.

Your portfolio doesn't need to be perfect. We want to see your curiosity, creativity and enthusiasm for making art. Choose work you're proud of that shares your creative journey with us.
