Choosing to study at the University of South Wales
Chidinma chose USW for its renowned Postgraduate degree in Procurement, intending to build on her experience in a Nigerian FMCG firm. USW offered a perfect mix of practice and theory. “I needed a university with a proven track record of academic excellence and the University of South Wales ticked that box.”
Her course was comprised of Sustainable Supply Chain Management and Procurement Principles and Management, where she focused on sustainable procurement and contract and risk management. Studying global industry case studies and using Business simulation software, Edmundo, enhanced her understanding of the wider industry, equipping her with improved employability skills and knowledge within her field.
Though she did not pursue an industry placement, Chidinma seized networking opportunities at the 'Procurex Wales 2022' event and the online CIPS symposium. These platforms offered her valuable insights into UK's public sector procurement, enriching her learning journey.
Her advice to prospective students is “Go for it! It is (joining USW) one of the best decisions I have taken, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.”
