More than 40 students and graduates from the University's Film and TV School worked on the BBC production of the epic TV drama, His Dark Materials.
His Dark Materials is a Bad Wolf production. Through their not-for-profit educational initiative Screen Alliance Wales (SAW), Bad Wolf continues to develop relationships with local schools, colleges and universities, building career pathways and supporting young Welsh talent.
USW students and graduates worked in a variety of roles, including production assistants, art department trainees, visual animations and much more.
Over 20 students and graduates have had the chance to work on the critically acclaimed Netflix series 'Sex Education' thanks to the USW TV and Film School close industry links to 'Eleven Film'.
The roles spanned the whole production - from costume and art to camera, sound and design - with many of the placements lasting several weeks.
We met up with a few of the team to discover how they found out about the opportunity to work on a globally-recognised show and hear about their experiences during the production.
Our creative students and graduates at USW are behind some of the most successful films of the past year, which are nominated for 2020 Academy Awards.
Working on blockbusters including 1917, Avengers: Endgame, The Lion King and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the USW alumni are adding some of Hollywood’s highest-grossing films of recent years to their CVs.
Our talented students and graduates have won Oscars and designed sets for BAFTA, as well as winning awards such as the Welsh Music Prize, the Pencil Award at the D&AD New Blood Awards. Some have even made the coveted Breakthrough Brits list.
