"I won’t ever regret choosing this Civil Engineering degree. It has already helped me win a graduate position. If you have an interest in the subject I’m sure you’ll love it.
The course appealed to me as I already had an interest in design and construction. The modules included a number of design modules and different aspects of construction management.
There were also modules where we worked as groups on projects in the local area. These were beneficial as we developed designs to meet real life project briefs allowing us to understand the process of design.
Find your courseFrom dissertation to future goals
My dissertation was carried out with Welsh Government working on a Highways scheme in South East Wales. I carried out an appraisal of proposed solutions using the Welsh Transport Appraisal Guidance. The project was really enjoyable and I discovered the complexity of making decisions relating to transport investment.
The next step for me is to study a Masters degree. Later down the line, I am aiming to gain professional recognition with the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation and from there on I’ll keep trying to move forward!"
