Making the leap into journalism at USW
University wasn’t initially part of my plan, but when I discovered the Sports Journalism course at USW, it felt like the perfect fit. I’ve loved sports since I was a kid, and with my family’s background at USW’s Cardiff and Pontypridd campuses, I knew it was a great place to start my journey.
Studying here has brought incredible opportunities, from covering Six Nations games in the Wales Rugby press box to working with Team GB’s wheelchair rugby. Cardiff’s sports venues and stadiums are all nearby, making it easy to dive into real-world experiences that bring my studies to life.

My background in TV and film back in college gave me a solid foundation, but being here has taken my skills to a new level. I’m learning hands-on with cameras, producing weekly podcasts, and running takeovers, which has helped me build confidence both in front of and behind the camera.
On top of that, I’ve developed skills in Adobe Premiere Pro and Audition, tools that I was once intimidated by but now feel completely comfortable using to create professional-quality content. I’d love to start my career in rugby media, capturing the action and managing social media for teams. My ultimate dream is to work in Formula One, where I can combine my passion for sports with a love of travel, covering events around the world.
