Pursuing a Dream Career in Law through Practical Experience

I’ve worked on real cases in the Legal Advice Clinic and undertaken mini pupillages with the Public Defender Service and work experience with Capital Law.

Learning with Real Clients

I chose to study LLB Legal Practice because I wanted a more practical-based course that would directly support my ambition to become a solicitor. As a single mum of twins, I needed a university that would treat me as an individual, and USW’s reputation for being supportive and attentive made it the right choice for me. I even attended two open days and spoke with lecturers who helped me understand the routes I could take to achieve my goals.

Throughout the course, I’ve worked on real cases in the Legal Advice Clinic and undertaken mini pupillages with the Public Defender Service and work experience with Capital Law. I've had opportunities to experience law in action—spending time in courtrooms and gaining insight into the legal world. These experiences have been instrumental in developing my employability and professional confidence.

Building Legal Confidence

USW’s Law facilities, especially the Moot Court and Legal Advice Clinic, have enhanced my learning experience by bringing theory to life. Using the facilities has allowed me to grow in confidence, particularly through interviewing clients and drafting legal documents. These practical elements have shown me that I truly want to pursue this career.

After graduation, I hope to secure a training contract and sit my SQE exams to become a qualified solicitor.

My advice to anyone considering the course is simple: you get out what you put in. Keep on top of your studies, and remember—help is always available if you need it.
