Supportive, engaging student experience at USW
Studying Biomedical Science at the University of South Wales has been an incredible experience, particularly because of the close-knit and supportive environment. Some of the highlights have been the hands-on modules, like cellular pathology, anatomy, and pharmacology. These modules interconnect, giving us a chance to work in teams to analyse case studies and diagnose patient scenarios. It’s a dynamic, practical approach to learning that has really solidified my understanding of complex systems in the body and the diseases that affect them.
The facilities at USW are top-notch. From the biological 3D printer in the labs to detailed anatomy models, there are countless resources to support our studies. These tools make learning more interactive and engaging, allowing us to visualise concepts in a way that a textbook or online resource just can’t match. The labs are well-equipped, and the lecturers go above and beyond to ensure we get the most out of them.

Prepared for a future in research
The personal connections at USW have been a game-changer. Lecturers know us by name and are always happy to answer questions or offer support, which creates a sense of belonging. The smaller class sizes mean I’ve never felt overlooked, and the sense of community extends beyond academics, with plenty of societies, events, and opportunities to meet people.
Looking ahead, I’m excited about opportunities like a neuroscience-based research project for my dissertation and possibly pursuing a master’s and PhD. My time at USW has prepared me with the confidence and skills I need to take the next step.
