I’ve gained my qualifications as well as experience within the field.
Combining playing with learning
I studied my first year on the Foundation Degree in Sports Coaching and Development whilst playing for the Reserves at Wigan. I chose to study this course as I felt it was the best option for me to continue my education. I was hoping to gain experience and knowledge within the coaching and development field, and it fulfilled all my expectations.
Balancing playing sport and my studies was tough at times; however, with assistance from my teachers, I was able to get through it and ensure my work remained at a high level. There was plenty of support available to me, not only from my teachers at Wigan but also from my module leaders at USW. I was able to email them at any time if I had any questions about work or assignments, and they got back to me as soon as possible.

I wanted to pursue a career in coaching, and this degree was perfect for that as I gained my qualifications as well as experience within the field.
If I were to give any advice to prospective students, I would have said firstly to do the course as it was enjoyable and very manageable. Also, making sure to stay on top of assignments meant there were no problems with handing work in.
