This Taster Day offers your students a unique opportunity to explore how creativity can be used to support health, wellbeing, and personal development.
Outreach Talks and Workshops
Students will work in teams on a design brief. They will challenge their skills in visual communication and problem solving. This workshop encourages students to investigate an existing communication problem and propose innovative ideas, design concepts and solutions.

If you are passionate about expressive arts and believe in the potential for creative practices to improve wellbeing, the unique Creative and Therapeutic Arts degree provides the opportunity to develop your future practice in community and educational settings.
Whether you are interested in fine art, design, craft or creative community engagement, the BA (Hons) Creative and Therapeutic Arts degree encompasses a wide variety of creative disciplines. You will be taught by experts at the forefront of the creative and therapeutic arts workforce, who will provide you with an excellent platform to gain experience of working creatively with others. This degree has three distinct areas of study - art practice, professional practice placement, and theoretical input. You will be encouraged to make meaningful connections between each core subject to become a creative arts practitioner.

During this session, you will learn the key skills and design methods required to develop a creative response to an interior design project.
You will learn how to survey and analyse a space whilst documenting your findings using varying drawing techniques. Further, you will create your own design in response to your ideas for the new use of the space.
During the session you will produce plenty of drawing work through this hands-on workshop, so don’t forget your sketchbook!
Through experimenting with materials, you will create a model of a structure which introduces the essential skill of developing any kind of three-dimensional design. Whilst playing with form and composition, you can see what the creative potential might be for creating a beautiful object.
This session will explore the role of the Production Designer and other roles within a professional art department.
Students will find out what it takes to establish a career in the industry, discover the range of work placements that students have experienced with productions such as; Doctor Who, Disney’s Aladdin, Mission Impossible 6 and Luther, and learn more about how USW creates graduates who are ready for a career in the industry.
