ILM Level 7 Certificate in Coaching Supervision

The ILM Level 7 Certificate in Coaching Supervision is an advanced qualification for experienced coaches who are ready to deepen their practice and develop the confidence, knowledge and professional judgement needed to supervise other coaches. It is designed for individuals who want to broaden their coaching expertise, strengthen their professional credibility and develop a specialist area of practice in coaching supervision.

As coaching continues to mature as a profession, supervision is increasingly recognised as an essential component of ethical, reflective and effective coaching practice as it provides a structured space for reflection, learning and professional growth.

Through this programme, you will develop the skills to support, challenge and develop other coaches, whilst also enhancing your own reflective practice, ethical awareness and professional impact.

This is a Level 7 qualification, equivalent to postgraduate-level study, and requires a significant commitment to independent learning alongside the taught workshops. Learners should be prepared to engage critically with academic literature, reflect deeply on their practice and apply learning between sessions.

The programme combines five face-to-face workshops with self-directed study, supervision practice and assessment activity. Learners will need to source between five and ten supervisees and complete 20 hours of coaching supervision practice as part of the qualification.

Supervision practice is supported through a peer learning approach, providing opportunities to practise, reflect and receive feedback throughout the programme. Observations may be completed by a trusted individual who can provide appropriate developmental feedback on your practice.

Success on this programme requires self-motivation, discipline and sustained engagement. We strongly recommend considering the time commitment carefully before enrolling and, where appropriate, discussing protected study time with your employer.

Assessment is entirely work-based and designed to support the development of your own coaching supervision practice.

• Critical Assignment

A 5,000-7,000 word critical assignment exploring the principles and practice of effective coaching supervision.

• Portfolio of Practice

A portfolio evidencing 20 hours of coaching supervision practice with a minimum of five and a maximum of ten supervisees.

• Reflective Journal

An ongoing reflective journal demonstrating your development as a coaching supervisor and your ability to critically evaluate your practice.

We will be delivering two cohorts of this programme, with one cohort based in West Wales and a second cohort based in South East Wales, providing learners with a choice of location and reducing travel requirements where possible.
