Transfer Approval Guidelines

A transfer approval is not guaranteed, for example if you have not passed your current year of study or have low engagement on your current course. If you are discontinued from your studies at the end of the academic year, the transfer will not go ahead.

When you can Transfer

  • During the current academic year: If it is early in the first term, you may be able to transfer courses immediately.
  • At the start of the next academic year: If you decide not to finish the current academic year, you must formally Leaving without formally withdrawing can affect your transfer eligibility and cause unnecessary financial penalties. It may also impact any future course applications.

Important Financial and Visa Checks

Before submitting a request, seek advice to understand how a course change will impact you:

  • Funding and fees: Contact your funding body (e.g. Student Loans Company or Local Education Authority), alongside the University’s Revenue Team and Student Money Advice Team, to review changes to tuition fees, student loans, scholarships, or bursaries.
  • International students: A course change may affect your visa status and duration. Contact the Immigration Advice Services before making an official request.

How to Apply to Transfer Courses

  • During the current academic year:
  1. Speak with your current Course Leader and obtain an email from them supporting the transfer.
  2. Obtain a supporting email from the Course Leader of the new course.
  3. Log into Advice Zone Online
  4. Submit a question and attach the emails from both Course Leaders
  5. Your request will be considered and you will be informed of the outcome
  • For the start of the next academic year:
  1. Speak with your Course Leader
  2. Visit the web page for the new course you wish to join.
  3. Click the ‘How to Apply’ link on that course page.
  4. Select your intended start date and study mode (full-time or part-time).
  5. Submit the online form for review by the Admissions Team.
