The University of South Wales is a popular choice amongst Filipino students and has been welcoming students from the Philippines to its three campuses for many years.

Popular courses amongst Filipino students are MSc Professional Practice, MSc Renewable Energy and Resource Management and BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance.

Students from the Philippines have appreciated the scholarships offered by the University and have enjoyed the high standard of living but relatively low cost of living that South Wales offers.     The University offers the following scholarships for self-funding international students. You will be automatically considered for one of these awards when we receive your application. For more information visit the international scholarships page.

    • International Academic Scholarship of £1,500 per year for undergraduate students
    • International Academic Scholarships of £2,000 for postgraduate students
    • International Academic Scholarships of £1,500 for MBA students

    Foundation Entry Requirements

    • International Foundation Year (Intensive English) is available for those students who have passed the Grade 12 High School Diploma with an average of at least 80%
      and have an IELTS 5.0 before progressing to their Bachelor degree.
    • Students who have a good level of English (IELTS 6.0 or equivalent) will be considered for our Faculty Foundation Years.

    Undergraduate Entry Requirements

    English Qualifications

    Proficiency in English is essential for Undergraduate study. The University of South Wales recognises the following English Language qualifications:

    • GCSE/O Level English Language grade C or above
    • IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum of 5.5 in each band)

    Don’t worry if you do not meet these requirements as we offer a range of English Language courses.


    Academic Qualifications

    • Applicants who have completed a relevant International Foundation Programme will be considered for undergraduate degree courses.
    • Holders of the International Baccalaureate Diploma or A Levels will be considered for direct admission to first degree programmes. Students who do not meet these entry requirement will be considered for a Foundation year.

    Postgraduate Entry Requirements

    English Qualifications

    Proficiency in English is essential for Postgraduate study. The University of South Wales recognises the following English Language qualifications:

    • GCSE/O Level English at grade C or above
    • Postgraduate Study: IELTS with an overall score of 6.0 with at least a 5.5 in each component. Please note that some courses may require a higher level of English language proficiency than the University’s standard requirements. Please see the course page for further information.

    Academic Qualifications

    • Applicants with an undergraduate (Bachelor) degree that is equivalent to a UK Upper Second Class degree (also known as a 2:1) will be considered for postgraduate programmes.
    • Applicants with a GPA 2.2 out of 4 or a 60% average will be considered for a Postgraduate programme.
    • Applicants with a Masters degree will be considered for entry to Ph.D. studies.
