"It feels wonderful to completely abandon your comfort zone.’’

Hi, I'm Daniella Andersson, from Sweden, and I’m studying Master of Chiropractic. During my research for a university, I was looking at those that had a good reputation and I started reading about USW. To study at the university is nice, in my experience you get more of a ”proper” university experience than what my friends seem to be getting back home in Sweden. There is always a lot of things going on at campus, and you can always meet new people, as long as you take the time.

When I arrived, I attended the International Welcome Week - it was definitely one of the most interesting weeks I’ve had here, I met some very close friends there, people from all over and even my longtime boyfriend. I learnt a lot, grew a lot and felt way more confident that I made the right choice by going here thanks to me attending this week. I would strongly recommend it!

My advice for international students

Attend the International Welcome Week – you’ll make so many friends!

Abandon your comfort zone

Bring a comfy sweater – Welsh homes are a bit chillier than back home in Sweden

Selection of sandwiches on malted brown bread with crinkle cut crisps. Prawns with mayonnaise. Roast chicken breast, vine tomatoes, cucumber, mayonnaise. Egg mayonnaise and watercress. Ham and cheddar cheese on mayo.

Prepare for some culture shocks – nightlife, food, and culture can be very different

Embrace all opportunities – the invite to the pub you accepted last minute will give you some of the best memories

ONE OF MY FAVOURITE MEMORIES HAS TO BE FROM SOME OF THE CHIROPRACTIC PARTIES THAT OUR SOCIETY ARRANGES TWICE A YEAR - THERE'S ALWAYS A LOT OF DANCING AND LAUGHTER.

When my course finishes, I’ll definitely miss my friends the most. My plan for the future is to work as a Chiropractor. At the moment I really don’t know where this will be, but my experience at USW has made be open to the world.
