Undergraduate Fees and Funding

Funding your Studies

Undergraduate courses have two main costs – tuition fees, which are the cost of studying a course at university and may vary from courses to course, and living costs. You can find specific information about course fees under ‘Fees and funding’ on each course page.

Your Guide to Financial Support for University Students

To help you afford university, there are a number of financial help options available from the University, Student Loan Company and other funding sources, that may provide loans (which have to be paid back) and grants, scholarships and bursaries (that don’t). If you’re considering going to university, you may have questions around money. For example, how much support is available to you to help with rent, food and essentials.

Updates to your tuition fees

In early December 2024, the Welsh Government announced that it was increasing the tuition fee cap from £9,250 to £9,535 for courses commencing after 1 August 2025 . This is the maximum amount that Welsh universities can charge UK students for their full-time undergraduate courses.

As a result of this change, the tuition fees for new students studying at the University of South Wales from September 2025 onwards will increase to £9,535 per annum.

To support students, the Welsh Government is increasing the tuition fee loan to up to £9,535. Please visit www.studentfinancewales.co.uk for eligibility and applicable terms.

This increase in the tuition fee cap brings Wales in line with other UK nations who were already able to charge up to £9,535 for their relevant courses.

Foundation Year Tuition Fees

In November 2024, the Department for Education announced that the maximum fee that can be charged for classroom-based foundation years in England will move from £9,535 to £5,760.

Following an internal review, the University of South Wales will also be reducing the fee it charges all UK students on classroom-based foundation years to £5,760 in September 2025. This will bring USW in line with all English universities. Fees for subsequent years of the degree course will be charged in line with our standard full-time Home undergraduate fees. The latest information on our fees can be found on the course pages of our website.
