A love for numbers
I chose the University of South Wales because it matched well with my A-Level results and it's one of the largest location-spanning universities in the UK. My course decision was heavily influenced by my keen interest in numbers and calculations.
In my first year, I particularly enjoyed studying Financial Accounting, finding immense satisfaction in balancing financial statements and understanding complex calculations. My learning experience was enhanced by using practical software like Microsoft Excel for data analysis and computerised accounting. It’s faster to calculate and I find it more accurate than using a calculator, as human error is always a possibility.

The Trading Room at USW was instrumental in providing a hands-on learning experience, but the real advantage for me is the nature of the course qualifications. This BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance course has 9 modules exempted in ACCA, which is a massive advantage in preparing me for a professional accountancy career.
For future students, my advice is straightforward: Study and don’t prepare for exams at the last minute! Being proactive has definitely helped me make the most of my time here.
