Choosing the right course with clear direction
I came to the University of South Wales to study an MSc in Electronics and Information Technology after completing my bachelor’s degree in electronics engineering in India. After taking a break from education, I was very clear about what I wanted to study and focused my research on courses that aligned with my career goals.
When I explored different universities, USW stood out because of the curriculum. The course content matched exactly what I wanted to learn, and I found it through both Google and LinkedIn during my research. That clarity and alignment gave me the confidence to choose USW for my postgraduate study.
Find your courseBuilding confidence through practical learning
One of the most valuable aspects of the course was the strong focus on practical, hands-on learning. Each module connected theory directly to industry applications, helping me understand not just what I was learning, but how it would be used in real-world scenarios. Having access to individual programmable boards for the entire semester allowed me to practise independently and build my confidence, particularly in programming.
The support at USW also played a huge role in my experience. The lecturers were incredibly supportive, approachable, and always willing to guide me whenever I needed help. Their encouragement, patience, and constructive feedback helped me overcome challenges and grow both academically and personally. During my MSc, I secured a part-time tutoring role through the USW careers platform, and after graduating I was offered a fully funded PhD at the university. I am now pursuing a career in academia and research, with a focus on mentoring and supporting students.
