My employment Law journey at USW

Law

My favourite part of the course has been volunteering at the Legal Advice Clinic, assisting real clients seeking advice.

Hands-on learning opportunities

I chose to study LLB (Hons) Law at USW through Clearing, encouraged by its highly rated course and renowned Legal Advice Clinic. My favourite part of the course has been volunteering at the Clinic, assisting real clients seeking advice on various legal issues, particularly employment tribunals. Supporting people who represent themselves has been incredibly rewarding, building my confidence and practical skills.

I've also benefited greatly from simulated experiences like mock mediations and the Hydra simulation, working collaboratively with policing students on realistic legal scenarios. These activities have provided invaluable preparation for my future career.

I'VE ALSO ENJOYED BEING PART OF SOCIETIES LIKE THE BAR SOCIETY, WHERE WE VISITED THE SUPREME COURT IN LONDON

Building confidence and professional skills

During my time at USW, my public speaking skills have dramatically improved. Initially nervous, I've become comfortable presenting to groups and taking on leadership roles in team projects. I've also enjoyed being part of societies like the Bar Society, where we visited the Supreme Court in London, enhancing both my network and understanding of the profession.

After graduating, I aim to specialise in Employment Law, ideally in Cardiff. USW has provided me with the essential skills, practical experience, and professional connections I need to succeed. My advice to future students is to embrace every opportunity offered—it's the best way to maximise your potential.
