Joining USW via the Network75 scheme has allowed me to work in a law firm alongside studying.
Discovering the Right Path at USW
After initially studying at a different university, I found the lack of support overwhelming and ended up leaving. While searching for full-time work, I came across USW’s Network75 scheme. The more I researched it, the more I felt it was the right fit for me. Since enrolling, the level of support from lecturers and staff has made a huge difference, reigniting my love for studying law and helping me realise I’d made the right choice.
Attending a USW Open Day introduced me to Network75, although at the time I didn’t fully understand what it involved. Now that I’m on the scheme, I work in a law firm alongside my studies. This has allowed me to gain practical experience and build a network within the legal profession. I’m also a member of the Junior Lawyers Division for Cardiff and East Wales, which has given me access to further networking events and training opportunities.
Find your courseReal-World Skills Through the Legal Clinic
My favourite experience so far has been the variety of assessments—especially those in the moot court, which have helped develop my confidence in public speaking and legal argument. The Legal Advice Clinic has also been a valuable part of my course, allowing me to interview real clients and contribute to providing accessible legal advice. These experiences give me a true insight into what a legal career will entail.
After graduating, I hope to sit my SQE exams and secure a training contract with a commercial law firm. While I’m currently interested in employment law, I’m excited to gain experience across different specialisms. For anyone considering studying law, I’d say be prepared to work hard and embrace every part of the course—you might just discover a new passion along the way.
