I've participated in the elipse clinic, street law projects, mentoring schemes, and a placement with S4C.
Why I chose Law at USW
I studied criminology in my A-levels and took a mini criminal law course alongside it, which sparked my passion for criminal law. The LLB (Hons) Law course at USW offered criminal law as a core module in my first year and provided opportunities for further study in criminal evidence and criminal law. This flexibility was exactly what I was looking for.
I visited three universities but chose USW because it had a more welcoming environment. I really enjoyed going around campus and seeing the facilities. I was particularly impressed by the Legal Advice Clinic, Moot Court, and the very practical experiences available, all of which convinced me USW was the right choice.
Find your courseBuilding practical skills and career ambitions
At USW, I’ve had numerous opportunities for hands-on experiences. I've participated in the elipse clinic, street law projects, mentoring schemes, and placements arranged by our placement manager. I’ve been involved with S4C and will soon undertake a mini pupillage. These practical experiences, especially the moot court and legal advice clinic, have significantly enhanced my skills.
My ambition is to become a barrister. Recently, I attended a barrister talk at Lincoln's Inn arranged by USW Careers, which strongly encouraged my goal. My advice to future students? Take every opportunity that comes to you—the more you do, the more that gets offered. I wish I'd taken more on during my first year; engaging fully has significantly expanded my network and skills.
