Study through the medium of Welsh
There are many opportunities for you to use your Welsh at the University - socially or as part of your course. Take advantage of these opportunities in order to broaden your horizons and develop bilingual skills that will strengthen your career potential.
Academic opportunities are provided in a variety of subjects from Performance, Education, Quantity Surveying to Police Science.
The University offers scholarships to students who study part of their course through the medium of Welsh. The University is also part of the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol scholarship scheme.
Research shows that employers are increasingly looking at recruiting people who can offer a service and the further skill of being able to work in Welsh and English in Wales.
The University of South Wales offers scholarships worth £1,000 to first year students who wish to study at least 40 credits through the medium of Welsh in the fields of performance, surveying, business, primary learning and policing.
The Coleg Cymraeg creates training and study opportunities in Welsh by working with further education colleges, universities, apprenticeship providers and employers. We inspire and encourage everyone to use their Welsh language skills.
The Coleg’s aim is to build a Welsh and bilingual education and training system which is open to everyone and to develop a bilingual workforce.
Every university in Wales has a branch of the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol. The branch meets often during the year to give students and staff the opportunity to voice their opinion on Welsh-medium issues.
You can arrange an appointment to have an informal chat with the South Wales Branch staff about the Welsh-medium provision available on your course, by emailing [email protected].
