As a new student, one of the first things you’ll receive is your Student ID card, which will give you access to facilities and services.

How do I get a Student ID Card?

After setting up your IT account and completing online enrolment, you'll be issued with a Student Smart ID. 

You will be issued with a student ID card in the first year of your course. Your ID card will remain valid for the duration of your course and will not be re-issued annually. The expiry date is shown on the card.

What does a Student ID Card do?

This multi-purpose card serves as your University ID, library card, door entry, and provides access to many university services and facilities.

How should my ID card photo look?

Your photograph should show a close-up of your full head and shoulders, facing forward. It must be only of you with no other objects or people. Your photo must be: 

  • in colour, taken against a plain cream or light grey background
  • show you facing forward without anything covering your face (eg your eyes not covered by sunglasses, tinted glasses, glasses frames or hair)
  • recent (eg taken within the last six months)
  • clear and in focus
  • unaltered by computer software
  • in portrait orientation (not landscape)
  • in a jpg format, within the maximum file size limit of 200Kb

How do I collect my Student ID Card?

The student ID cards will be available from the Advice Zone at the relevant campuses following your enrolment.

ID Cards will be available by the Monday following your enrolment date.

Yes, please collect your card from the campus where you are living. The campus distribution locations are listed above.

This service is not being provided.   ID cards are being given out on campus to students who attending scheduled teaching activity.

If you have lost your ID card, you can order a replacement from the University's online store for £5, and you will receive a receipt through email. Cards can be collected from the Advice Zone at your campus. You will need to take the 4 digit receipt number to the Advice Zone to be able to collect your new card.

RETURNING STUDENTS

If you are returning to University to continue with your studies this year, the student ID card issued to you in the first year of your course is valid until the expiry date shown on the card. If you think this expiry date is incorrect or needs extending please contact your Advice Zone.
