Students as Co-creators

The Community of Expertise: Students as Co-creators (CommExp: Co-creators) was founded, with the support of CELT, in February 2021, to reflect one of the core tenets of the USW 2030 curriculum strategy.   ​​​​​​​

Co-creation is a term that can be applied to many different scenarios, and there are plenty of fantastic instances of good practice throughout the University, although sometimes it’s not formally measured or recognised as such. The benefits to students can be huge, both on an individual level for those students participating in the co-creation process, and to the student body as a whole.  But it can feel uncomfortable as lecturers to let students see behind the scenes, and to know what works or where the pitfalls might be.   ​​​​​​​

The Community of Expertise is a place for staff to explore and frame what 'students as co-creators' might look like to them; it will be different for every course and every member of staff. Drawing on the academic literature and experiences of staff from USW and other universities, CommExp: Co-creators aims to build a body of knowledge that staff can use to understand how they can integrate 'students as co-creators', and to provide a space for sharing, collaboration and support.  ​​​​​​​
