Creative GradFest21: Fashion & Advertising students launch street gallery
24 June, 2021
Fashion & Advertising students at the University of South Wales (USW) have launched a street gallery across Cardiff to showcase their fantastic graduate projects, as part of Creative GradFest21.
In a twist on previous graduation shows, the gallery aims to celebrate students’ work by displaying their designs on billboards across the city. Work from all of the courses in the subject area is included – Fashion Design, Fashion Promotion, Fashion Business & Marketing, and Advertising Design.
Simon Thomas, Course Leader for Fashion Business & Marketing, said: “We are determined to ensure the hard work of all students is shown in an engaging and safe way, with work from across all of our courses on display, and a QR code on each poster to take the viewer to see more of the work. We are proud to support the students in a way that remains safe and creative.”
Fashion Business & Marketing student Sam Eastcott added: “I think this is a fantastic and imaginative way to ensure we as students get recognised for the hard work we have put in over the course of our studies. It really feels like a celebration, and given the current circumstances it's presented in a way that makes sense.”
Staff from Fashion & Advertising have worked with media company Build Hollywood to deliver the campaign. The gallery makes use of unused billboards across the city which would usually be booked out by hospitality businesses. The Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdowns have meant that these boards have been unchanged for sometime, and so this campaign brings fresh, vibrant colour to the city.
