Cutting-Edge Facilities

Our courses offers

  • The School of Engineering has specialist facilities that provide exciting learning spaces for our students. Students benefit from the £3.3m extension to our Aerospace Centre. The Centre includes two aircraft hangars, allowing hands-on experience of Rolls Royce Spey engines, plus our own full size BAE Jetstream 31 and a Jet Provost aircraft.

  • We are the only university in the UK that has integrated the industry-standard aircraft maintenance qualification 'EASA Part 66' with an Honours degree, delivered on a single campus. On completion, you'll be able to apply for a full EASA Part 66 and GCAA Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Licence in just two years, which usually requires five years' professional experience.

  • Students on our Aeronautical Engineering courses have access to 747 and MP521 flight simulators where they can try out the flight characteristics of their aircraft designs. They can also use a fully instrumented wind tunnel and gas turbine engine, as well as materials testing and control laboratories.

  • Our research tackles three broadly defined areas that drive advances in aeronautical and aerospace engineering; Aerodynamics and electric propulsion, systems and controls, and light weight structures and materials. Our group members are involved with different areas of research and multi-disciplinary background of the group provides a comprehensive approach to the various research topics.

Study in the heart of Pontypridd

Our Treforest campus is in the heart of the South Wales Valleys, with beautiful scenery and rolling landscape. There’s always something happening or new places to discover.
