UK Students

The Student Support Fund can offer support to UK students who are experiencing financial difficulties. It isn’t guaranteed for any particular year or for the whole duration of an academic year, but if you’re experiencing financial difficulties, you can apply.

Students experiencing problems with their statutory student funding – e.g. Student Finance or NHS who haven’t received the first payment and are in immediate hardship as a result – are advised to make an appointment with a Money and Support Adviser.

We offer support for Care Leavers if you’ve let us know you’re a Care Leaver, we’ll let you know how to apply for the bursary.

We offer support for student carers who need financial support. We recognise caring often has financial implications (such as less availability for paid work and increased travel costs). If you received the Carers Bursary last academic year you will be automatically sent a different form.

USW introduced the Digital Hardship Fund to help students for the Autumn 2024 term in response to the challenges that many are experiencing with financial difficulties affording a basic laptop for their studies. The support available was a voucher for a refurbished laptop from our supplier. The Fund is now closed to general applications.

New eligible students enrolling for the first time in the 2024/25 Spring or Summer term will be contacted directly via their Uni email address and given the opportunity to apply to the scheme within a month of their enrolment. If you believe you may be eligible but not had an email, then please contact [email protected].
