Investing in your future

We are investing in the future of STEM at USW with an exciting new Computing, Engineering and Technology building at our Pontypridd Campus.

Alongside our approach to hands-on learning, we also offer placement opportunities to help you gain the skills and knowledge needed for many industry roles. At USW we create graduates who are prepared for tomorrow and who can succeed in the real world.

Further Study Options

  • At USW Engineering, we offer a range of postgraduate engineering courses, across civil engineering, the built environment, mechanical engineering, electrical and electronic engineering and aeronautical engineering. You also may be eligible to apply for the HEFCW Postgraduate STEM bursary of £2,000 for a full master’s course.

  • The University of South Wales, working in partnership with the Welsh Government, is offering Engineering Degree Apprenticeships. These combine work-based learning with studying a degree part-time at university. You achieve a degree, learn professional skills and gain industry knowledge.

  • We offer a number of Masters by Research programmes, all of which allow you to make an in-depth study of an Engineering topic that interests you.

  • We offer a number of postgraduate research programmes, including PhD, all of which allow you to make an in-depth study of an Engineering topic that interests you.

Engineering Facilities

At the University of South Wales, our dedicated engineering facilities include an Aerospace Centre, which houses its very own aircraft, a suite of practical training facilities approved by the aerospace industry, and electronics labs supplemented with world-leading Renesas technologies.

We have recently refurbished our civil and mechanical engineering labs equipping them with the latest computer-aided and controlled machinery.

At USW, we are proud of the outstanding women staff, students, and graduates we have in engineering. Here we celebrate their achievements and learn more about what engineering means to them.

USW Rocketry Society

The rocketry society works with students who volunteer to take part in designing, propelling, monitoring and constructing rockets from scratch. The team won the National Rocketry Championship 2018/19.
